The Metamorphosis summary : Kafkasque

Metamorphosis

These are my views after reading the story and also inspired by word sof Kafka.

1. Emphasis on change in human emotions and relations :

Eg: after his metamorphosis, he is further looked after by his young sister. And his fathers sudden change of response after this process. Both instances point out to emotional transformation at its fullest or at its early stage of development.

2.The untold truth about life.

While some of us in the start of the story were hoping for some miraculous change in “Gregor’s ” condition it is needless to say pointless because there is no other way out of it.on the other hand his parents who dont know what to do and his sister who after taking the lead realises her responsibilities and acting as a form of authority with the likes of her father slowly forgets the existence of her brother and sees him only as the insect he has become. Hence they finally expect to get rid of him as they cant bare him no more.

3. Gregore and his condition as a metaphor.

One has to take the stand to realise that what “kafka” wants us to see is that ,incidents or events even accident if you may take have certain impact on our daily lives, through this unusual story of metamorphosis the writer shows us the the impact of change and its consequesnces were no one is to be blamed.

4. A loyal son and a helpless family

Throughout the story it’s quite natural to assume that the family is oblivious of the sons sacrifices and hard work to a moment were Gregor himself dosent regret the misfortune himself as if he feels like they are liable to go through this event.

5. The end

As the unfortunate son relieves the family of a thier burden, this is also a metaphor towards explaining the true form of or essence of the phrase “moving on” as they had already moved on ,at the start of Gregor’s change and his death was all in all just a confirmation to thier already established emotions and the samsa family moved forward with thier life. All in all the story was daunting and fascinating and to an extent hard to go through as his suffering were pitiful and even more the attitude of the family who couldnt care for him anymore.

Summary :

Kafka’s masterpiece is as daunting as it is fascinating—a story that forces us to confront our deepest fears about change, alienation, and the fragility of relationships. What does this story say about our lives? Are we the Samsa family, moving on too quickly? Or Gregor, silently sacrificing everything? Food for thought.
