Sun Halo. Something never seen before..

Sun halo at Ajotha

Today I’m at Ajotha village near Somnath, enjoying the peace and true nature of the world. Everyone knows the beauty of the village but here today I have seen something that I have never seen before. At first, I was amazed to see it with my eyes and I just started clicking pictures of it but after taking some photos I realized, what am I doing?

The most wonderful thing is in front of me and I’m busy with the eyes of the camera watching it and forgot that I have eyes too to see it originally 😜, so I just turned off the camera and started to see it with eyes, and even my eyes were watering from seeing the sun directly, I know it’s worth it. Now what I have seen is called sun halo which I googled after it was completed. The image you saw was the image that I captured and it’s more beautiful to see it live than in the picture.

So I just want to say that don’t be so busy in work in cities, take some time to notice nature and you will also see the beauty of it.

Walk in the nature and you will see the magic.

Sun halo, also known as ’22 degree halo’, is an optical phenomenon that occurs due to sunlight refracting in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It forms a ring with a radius of approximately 22 degrees around the sun or the moon.

A halo is a ring or light that forms around the sun or moon as the sun or moonlight refracts off ice crystals present in a thin veil of cirrus clouds. The halo is usually seen as a bright, white ring although sometimes it can have color.

On Earth, the clouds contain millions of tiny ice crystals, which refract, split, and even reflect the light to give an impression of a circular rainbow ring. The crystals have to be oriented and positioned just so with respect to your eye, in order for the halo to appear. Light undergoes two refractions as it passes through the ice crystals and the bending that occurs depends on the ice crystal’s diameter.
